It was a cool weekend and an annoying weekend. But also like, awesome, annoying, if that makes sense. On Friday, we had a bunch of the Moxie stuff or wants the whole staff over to skate. That was really fun. I was really fun and went like late night because so freaking hot here in Long Beach, California. But other places doing way worse than us. So we'll put up with it. Yeah, and

oh, I was gonna say that I went on the ramp for the first time in a really long time. Yeah, really, really went on the ramp for the first time and it was good. I was really scared that I had to overcome my mental blocks.

Okay, so I feel like that was a very confusing sentence and was I sounded like some sort of conniving manipulative person. However, I would just like to say that all I did was leave a little trail of peanut butter receipes and you just kept picking them up and you landed in my lap, I

She was shocked when one day we were skating back from getting sushi. As it was our first day back from Peru. And we were the best.

skating by her like three months into dating. And of course, like because queer women were like already talking about if we get married.

as far as when we've went on our first date. Two days later, I was traveling to San Jose. And when I was in San Jose, add a garden Shove said to me, are you scouting out our wedding venue?

Anywho so we're skating. And I was like, Well, obviously I would live with someone before I got married. And she was like, What do you mean? Like, I want to live with someone before we get married? I got married. I was like, What? Like, what kind of like, weird Christian stuff? Is that it like her virgin when and we all knew you weren't? Like why you can't live with your spouse before you get married?

Yeah, so I, every once in a while, there's like something random that has just like snuck through and state attached to me that comes from like, my very conservative upbringing. And that was one of the last ones I can't think of anything that happened since then. But like, that was one of the last ones that like had randomly like snuck through. And state as a belief to me was like, I couldn't live with a significant other until I got married to them,

I was very shocked. No, I literally was the core of my being

the whole vibe of the rest of the day, it took you like a minute, like, you can see, like the equations being added and subtracted in her head, then like just the look of shock, like, everything I know might be flipped upside down.

Yeah, it's that moment when you realize you believe something that's untrue. And you believed it like with your whole heart for a really long time? And then you're like, Wait a second, why do I believe that? And you like, can't really figure out why? Because it doesn't really make any sense. And then you're like, Okay, so I shouldn't believe that. So then what do I believe now? And you just have to make something up that you believe about something? And you're like, I guess that's what I believe. Now. Anyway, so that happened all on that scale. Yeah.

And I she was living with her friend germ. And I was living with my dad because I got conned. And you know, he needed financial help. And yeah, and it was like, it sucks. Like, it was draining on the bank account. And I was giving up a lot of the freedom I wanted to have. Because I was afraid to like, you know, it's family. You can't leave them struggling financially, which of course, obviously, I later did, because you got to set boundaries and be like, Yo, I'm in my 30s it's not my job to do this right now. Yeah. And he's okay. Just so you know, so it's not like I loved him homeless or something. He's in the same house. But anyway. So it started a course because, you know, I should have known because I'm not a lesbian. She's obviously a lesbian. And I was warned, the stereotypes are true. They come from somewhere. And even if you think that you don't want to move in with, you can

flip real quick. And then all of a sudden, as soon as it as soon as it flipped for me, I started thinking about it. And as soon as I start thinking about something, I don't know if you know this about me yet from this podcast, but something about me is that once I put my mind to something, like once I start thinking about something like I will do it, like period, like I'm gonna make it happen. So like, I'll tell something to Shove one day and then she'll be like, Oh, crap, like, that's gonna happen. Like, yeah, make that happen. She's gonna buy that. She's gonna sign up for that class. She's gonna do whatever because she started talking about it, I fixate on things. So I think that once I once I was like, Oh, wait, I do want to move in with her. Wait, that wouldn't be weird at all. Then I was like, Okay, I would like to move in with her. And I just started thinking about it casually then it was a while then a while past

not even a while not even that long. This is what happened. Like I would go over and be like gonna stay on Friday. Oh, gonna stay again. I guess I'll go get some clothes and it started being like oh, I'm gonna go to my girlfriend's house. Let me pack a whole bag. So it became a bigger and a bigger bag because I would stay for more and more days. And then so

a half and then it started when she's like her creeper us like found out all the stuff I use for my bathroom.

really I thought the hair stuff was first the hair stuff sat on the nightstand. Okay, so she got me a nightstand so I had us place to put saw myself. And then she got me like the hair conditioner shampoo. Yeah. Yeah, so it was like everything's that way. Like I'd be comfortable. And it's like you never have to leave to go get something you just stay here forever. And then, like I said, it was like more stuff I had to bring. So then next and I come and there's a dresser like, big dresser. Like what? Five drawers or something five or six rows. And so the furniture just keeps going. So six, right? So I'm like, okay, so like of course I just keep bringing more clothes. And then it's just like, I have everything I need. So like I'm not really going home. Yeah, and then like one day, she was just like I kept feeling weird because I was like, Oh my god, her roommates probably gonna be like, what the hell is never leaving, she's always here. And I would even feel awkward, like if I went, and she wasn't there because Rebel was just like when they like, oh, you're always there like, I should give you a key so you can get in whenever we go and like she just hands me a key and I'm like, All right. So I have a keytar house now,

Like, why was there a surprise why I'm here alone. And then yeah, just like how many months was just like, oh, obviously that I lived there. But

And then finally, I was just like, yo, dad, like, I'm never even here. Like, I'm moving out. So I did. And it was great. Because then I started paying rent. And I felt like I belonged there. Instead of feeling like, Oh, I don't really have the right to like, do whatever I want. And there was like, no real change, because it was like there was not enough span of us, like dating and not living together.

ended up at Easter. So I didn't fully miss it. I was just like, but yeah, so I think for me, like the moving in process. I think the one thing was that you were like you never asked me to move in. Yeah. And I didn't know that. I needed to do that. Because I had never lived with anyone before. So she was I only considered the prospect because you had like, set it on that skate.

I have a story to tell. Oh my gosh. So one day, we're sitting on the patio. I used to smoke cigarettes and smoking a cigarette Rebel sitting out there. It's nighttime. And I'm like, you know, you never asked me to move in with you. And that like sucks. Like it just happened. Like it was just like, sneaky. One thing. It was like one step over this game gently pushed into and then it was just like, okay, now you're here. And I was like, Oh, well.

We talked about it. No, but it was

like, yeah, and then like you pay rent, but it was never like an official. It's like how you hear like, people just end up being in relationships that are like, no one ever asked me to be their girlfriend or boyfriend or whatever. And it was like one of those scenarios. So I was like, Yeah, one time I watched and she was like, What are you talking about? Like, how do you even ask someone I

literally had never heard of it before. Like it didn't even exist in my head. Let's get married

So I'm like talking about this movie I saw like, Who knows? I was like, in the 90s when I was little, and I thought it was so cute. And basically like, this guy hands his girlfriend like a ring box. And when she opens it, it has a key to his like house or apartment. And it's just like, super romantic is like, well, you move in with he has like a little ribbon on it. And it's like super cute. And I always thought like, Oh, so romantic. So then literally within 30 seconds, she gets up and runs away. And I hear jingling like like he's or she's not even trying to be like sly like she's like literally right by me. And then I hear like, oh, and then she comes back out with a cheesy smile. And she's just like, and she pulls out a rain box. That's like my ring. Like, when you move in with me. My own Kiva was ripped off of my keychain loudly. And then I was just like, You're stupid. She's like, What? What I'm serious when I was like, really.

I think that speaks to the chaos and the passion of our relationship that's

Yeah. But anyways, the biggest part about moving in is gonna be the finances and just making things fair. Like, I think, like just knowing like the trading off. So it's not one person being stuck with something like someone has this bill, someone else has that bill, then there's like splitting bills in half. Yeah, and trading off with payments and things just go. I think that's the biggest thing with some relationships is money becomes an issue.

Oh, in general, I think the biggest thing about moving in is deciding like, Who's gonna take care of different things around the house. Like I think that chores are a really big thing. Like because if one person gets stuck with all the chores, or one person gets stuck with a cooking and they like don't want to do that, and like that can really create tension, I think

are like, rebels vacuumed. Once in three and a half years. Twice. I

made it for a video one time. I put on skates in a vacuum.

Yeah, we do the whole room. No, but I but the thing is, is like I'm never like, why don't you vacuum? Why do I have to vacuum I just do it? Yeah, you know, I mean, or like she will wipe you out and do the dishes like she always does the dishes. And like, I'm the only one in the house that we have a roommate to the house that like will sweep the floor and like swifter clean it sometimes like she doesn't do floors hate floor like Rebel picks up and does dishes and lawn and laundry. And I'll like do the deeply when I need to like the like more like intense stuff. So Rebel keeps it looking nice on the surface. And I'm like, once a month I'll like spaz out and like do the deep things or like the people come? Or like I do the casual like the more like one step deeper. Because like Rebel doesn't like that stuff. And I don't like the stuff she does. So it works out. It

So if something's like bothering you, you also need to say something and don't let it fester.

Yeah, definitely. Yeah, um, I have a suggestion. And this is based off of no actual experience doing this, but rather a study that I did when I was in grad school. And that is that if you have any hesitation about moving in with someone, and this could be I know, we're talking about like significant others right now. But it also could apply if you're like thinking about moving in with a roommate or something. But making up a roommate or living together agreement is actually a really good idea. Just like talking through things that you would put in an agreement of that sort, like, what kind of things do you care the most about when it comes to chores? How much is being paid on either side for what bills? If this happens, what do we do if this kind of argument happens? Like, are we allowed to leave the room or like, Can we just like, take some time away, and like writing all those things out and then signing it is one way to make sure that you're moving in experience in your first year, which is what everyone says the first year is the hardest or whatever, it goes smoother, because then you've kind of thought about some things that a lot of times people just don't think about before moving in. And the reason why I say I know about it from grad school is because we did a study of new roommates moving into the dorms, and like half of the people didn't have roommate agreements, and half of them did. And the majority of people who did have roommate agreements, were still with those roommates by the next year. Whereas a lot of the people who didn't have roommate agreements were no longer with the roommates that they started with. So anyway, so it helps.

Also some other advice is if you're a film dating a film or a mask dating a mask, and especially if you're dating someone that is anywhere near like both B and plus size or both being straight size. Don't do it because they will constantly wear your wig like the one rebels wearing right now or wear your clothing or wear your robe

You know, how when you work in a place and like, you never would have wanted all of those things. But then because you see it all the time. You're like, oh, maybe I do want that. Or Oh, that would be nice to have my house. I think the same thing happens with clothing.

You know, it's funny with straight couples. What is like this is happen at the coffee shop a lot, like a couple walk in, and I'll be like, what makes it a little Jason? Like, oh, did you match on purpose, and it'll be like both wearing the same color flannels, both wearing red t shirts, and having so much and then they would look every time we'd look at each other day. Oh my God, we didn't even notice. What's I think it literally happens at all couples like osmosis or some shit. But with queer people we understand because we're like, so like, the outfit got to be unchecked that we noticed right away like you're wearing what I'm wearing.
