What's up everybody? Oh my god, it's a holy crap. Did you forget we existed?
Shove:I forgot this podcast existed.
Rebel:I mean, it's skate date. How can anyone forget it existed?
Shove:Um, I feel like people have been commenting about how they miss it. So, rebels when like, we got to come back.
Rebel:I mean, we were talking about it. And we knew that we were going to come back in January. It was just like we needed that push. So everyone who sent us a message or has commented something. You helped make this happen. We're back.
Shove:Yeah, thanks a lot. And I'm skiing.
Rebel:We really thought we were going to be more put together we thought we were going to have like a whole like new music, new intro, new setup everything. And that is coming. But if we waited for that to happen, we would never record
Shove:who knows. By time you're listening to this. It might be new music.
Rebel:I know. That is very true. Anyways, wait
Shove:a minute. I'm shove I'm rebel. And together we are shovel. Can you dig it?
Rebel:I can.
Shove:Oh my god, we still got it.
Rebel:Oh my god, we still got it. Welcome to skate day. Skate Day is a podcast by roller skaters talking about roller skating, but also talking about a bunch of other stuff about
Shove:roller skate. It's about roller skates. I'm out of Oh my god. It's been too long. I got nervous. Oh my god, you got nervous. Like we're on the first date. Again. So skating is a podcast brought to you by roller skaters. And it's roller skate adjacent because we cover everything from the real world to the real world. So when we go on to escape D, you're not just going to talk about skating, you're going to talk about what's going on in the world. passions were going through. We really helped this a season three and I really, actually this
Rebel:is season four. Oh my god, we stopped to mid season three.
Shove:That's why I felt like that. Yeah, it's been a year y'all. Sorry. I just want to say that like, I'm really hoping that we go into like, now you see us in our living room, not in our garage. It definitely looks brighter. It looks more inviting. It's in our home. It's more comfortable for us. What am I gonna be real? Yeah, one of my great hopes is that it's not as structured necessarily this first episode. We're just really just catching up with y'all and keeping it casual. But I don't know, I just really want to be like, really open with y'all even more so than we were.
Rebel:Yeah, I totally agree. I feel like we're very ready to just be real and raw. And I know, we were already real and raw before. But just we've achieved a new level of not caring what anyone thinks about us. So you're gonna get the very unfiltered shove and rebel. Yeah, like,
Shove:for you listeners that have been with us from the start, you went through the whole pandemic with us. So thank you very much. For coming out of it. A lot of things have changed anything. I was starting my antidepressant journey, when you last heard from me. Now I feel like I'm really in the thick of it, like a lot of things about me have changed and for the better. So I'm hoping that will one of the main reasons as many of you probably know, from what, especially if you watch the podcast on YouTube, I was going through it, sometimes it didn't talk at all. Sometimes I looked like I wanted to push myself a rebel in the face. I never would well, I want to put trouble in the face. But I felt like there was just like, the mental illness was really kicking me down mixed with like the pressure of like, working in school and then the podcast and then we were going hard in Rebels YouTube, it was just like, it was a thing. Yeah, it was a lot. Yeah. And then on top of that pandemic, and like just life, so I feel like now me and rebel talked about it. And I feel like I'm in a good place to be bad. And I'm really thankful to have a supporting partner like rebel that can listen to me and hear me because I know she really loves the podcast and it was hard for her to give it up. But even girl even you got a little too busy. I want to stop anyways. Yeah, I
Rebel:got really busy for a second.
Shove:Thank you very much for like being patient with me and giving me that space and time to be able to find myself back so that way like I really want to do the podcast again. Because it really felt like I was like it was like pulling teeth for a while.
Rebel:It was I mean, yeah, of course of course I would do that for you. Like that's not even a question but I appreciate you like saying that because yeah, the podcast is my baby. I love it very much. And she was even like, Have other people do it. I'm like, that's not the point. Like the point is not to have rebel with other people. The point is to have us like it's our podcast. I would
Shove:have been a fun podcast. I wouldn't have been skating but it
Rebel:would have been fine. But it wouldn't have been spot as it would not have been skate bait.
Shove:Yeah, I've tried to go back to old times today. And I was like, are we really doing the podcast today? Just because I was tired. And she knows. You told me things besides you. Makes me happy and I was like, or that she loves and I was like, dang, what's so Bowie's chopped liver now?
Rebel:Meanwhile, I'm like, literally cuddling Bowie. I was like, no, he's just a part of me. But oh,
Shove:it's January. Yeah,
Rebel:it's almost your birthday. Your birthday is literally all of January. But also, it's in like, what? Three days? Four days? It's on Sunday. Or days away? Which you'll be watching this after her birthday.
Shove:Yeah. Which means don't worry, you'll get an update. So should we tell them like the birthday plans?
Rebel:Oh, I definitely think we should do that. But we should also let them know how often like skate days can happen and go over the boring stuff boring stuff first, and then we'll go into everything else.
Shove:Okay. Okay.
Rebel:So how often are we going to put out skate date now?
Shove:I'm bi polar. I'm by sexual and the podcasts will now be bi weekly.
Rebel:Yes. So every two weeks there will be a new podcast out and we'll be putting it out on Wednesdays at noon ish. Because Clairol straight skates has Tuesdays at noon ish. So Wednesdays at noon ish every other week. No fresh, but it's gonna be every other week. Yeah, I think that's all the information they need to know. Our email is still alive and well.
Shove:It is skate date. podcast@gmail.com
Rebel:is a thing.
Shove:Anyone ever emailed us?
Rebel:I check it periodically. It does go into my inbox. Well meet your SC dear escaped date@gmail.com I don't think we've gotten an email in there for a while.
Shove:Did we have three emails? I vaguely remember.
Rebel:We had dear escaped data@gmail.com We had Skype date. podcast@gmail.com I think that was it. And then we have shuffle gets married@gmail.com But that's different. There's something give that away to people. I mean, everyone knows. What are they gonna do email me on a different? Like, it's literally it all just goes to my inbox?
Shove:Yeah, since the last rebel asked me to marry her back. Yeah, I knew what's gonna happen. I got a very beautiful ring out of it. Thanks. Thanks. Thanks. Yeah, I know. We're really excited. We had an engagement party. Yeah. A lot happened. You saw rebel skated behind? Lizzo. Yeah, it broke my heart. But I was like, hoppy by proxy.
Rebel:And shove was for like two seconds on the Lizzo. H live SB HBO special Ryan with a pink face mask on. So cute because we were performing at the AMA's the next day. Yep. That was why
Shove:things have been heightened pink. Yeah, I had a photoshoot recently, but no one will know about it until February and I love talking about it. You know, NDAs are a theme.
Rebel:I also did something that same weekend of the AMA's that I'm not allowed to talk about. Yeah, so like, so that's cool. We're doing some things. We're doing things we did. We did the year.
Shove:I got my first promo box this year. It was a nice oh,
Rebel:gel like three pairs and I cannot believe I am the sneaker head. i It is me. She got her shorts, though. I did. They're very beautiful. It was just like one of those girls like oh my
Shove:god, who am I right now. But anyways, um, yeah, it was awesome. We are now in January. So Happy New Year first happy Capricorn season every Capricorn season. I almost want to be like, the highlight of what I'm calling this year is 2020. Me?
Rebel:Yes. What does that mean? Well,
Shove:it means me, me, me, me, me. And by me, me, me, me, me. It means you you, as in take care of yourself. Invest in yourself. Be selfish, not to the point where you're like throwing other people in the box. I think we're so afraid like selfish is such a bad thing. But a lot of times we end up being martyrs or like suffering and stunting our own personal growth because we're too busy worried about other people. How are we going to make our job money? Rather, how am I gonna make myself money? I come up with all these ideas to help other people be successful. But I never come up with ideas to help my own business be successful. Like all those things, like there should be like 5050 Like it's split, you know? I mean, we're podcasters
Rebel:we're podcasters we're back to it.
Shove:Our new roommate river I know last time you were like y'all don't have a roommate they were
Rebel:now now we have a slightly more visible roommate.
Shove:This is river moseying on in the back wave. They're pretty awesome. Yes. Ran away. So sometimes I think Bowie loves them more than us. But no, that's okay. It's okay. I feel like their siblings are like, BFFs. Yeah, they're like cousins for sure. But yeah, so always Yeah, so it's 2020 me?
Rebel:Yeah. 2020 me, I think is just such a beautiful concept. And every time I think about it, I feel warm and fuzzy inside because I also spend a lot of time just doing a lot of things for other people and putting other people's just wants or expectations above my own dreams and my own, like, what I want. And so it's cool to like, feel like you've been given permission to be selfish and to pursue things and then just say, like, Fuck you, if you say anything to me about it.
Shove:No, it's not true. It's just like, I keep I've been talking about it since like November, I played like vague posts about it on Instagram. But to everyone I crossed paths with since like, November, I've been bringing it up to them like next year, like it's the year like I just like my intuitions been just like buzzing they can like feel this like fire within me to just be like, now's the time, which was like another reason why it was like skate day was coming back. The way I'm presenting myself on social media is changing the investments I want to do in the skate community are changing. Just all these little things physically, like now, I started going to the gym a few weeks ago, and not like cardio, trying to get skinny and all these things. But more like, man I miss when I used to like weight training or like, do CrossFit and I felt strong. And I missed that feeling of like strength and like, the power that I felt. And now since I've been back, and I've been hitting the weights, it's just like this feeling that I just feel like even when I walk out and walk around for the day, and I'm just like sore, but I'm also like, I just feel differently. My posture is better. Everything like I just want to like invest into myself physically, mentally, everything like I'm finishing school in a couple months, finally. Oh, yeah. And March. Come on. Let's get here already. Yeah, they'll be happy birthday rebel and Happy graduation show. Well, yeah. But I would like to say if you're out there watching this or listening to this, really think about the things you've been putting off. And now's your chance, like, Why have you not been taking those steps to make it happen? And what is making you like, feel really tired every day? Like, what is it that straining and taking from you and taking from you, and maybe cut off a little bit of that? What's taking from you because things can't really take from you unless you're giving it right? So I need you to like take that back and give it to yourself. So that way your own dreams can come true. I just really, really hope that like everyone kind of works on that. And as I started like talking about it around New Year's, I already saw a few people started using like 2020 Uni and I was like, yes, it's happening because it's not like, This is mine personally, like no one else use it. It was something that like I'm excited about I'm spreading the words to people but I want everyone to use it in their day to day life and not just like say it and post about it. But like live it.
Rebel:Is there like a hashtag that people can use. I just started spelling
Shove:out because it's like how do you spell it? Some people have been putting in like the numbers 2020 Dash mean, or you just spell out like 2020 meet. Evelyn was cute. And she said like the EU should be back up should be a three
Rebel:to zero to M three. Yeah, that's cute. Yeah,
Shove:so that's cute. Whatever
Rebel:I love. I've already started taking on the 2020. Me. I started taking classes that I was have been wanting to take for a very long time tick tock, goddaughter. They got me. I'm using this like whatever app thing that gives me credits to take random classes and random places. Yeah, we're not going to mention it. We're not going to mention it because they did not pass. Bullies trying to drink my drink. Okay, so last night I took a striptease class. Yesterday during the day I took a flexibility class. Yes, did you have something to say about that? And then I took a burlesque class and is that all the classes I've taken? I feel like it's
Shove:as you mentioned, the mu Muay Thai mood.
Rebel:I also took a white Thai. Thai, I think is how you pronounce it, I am unsure. And I hated that one. But just because they made me work out. Like they made me run around in a circle, and I was like, I hate this.
Shove:Yeah, we're kinda I like I like the pain. I told it to hold Healy today. My Derby wife, I took her to the gym with me because she was like, Oh, I'm looking for a gym. I was like, oh, use my free pass. Let's go. And she was like, really suffering in the beginning. And I was like, hey, you know, we we like to suffer so many ways or hurt ourselves in so many ways. Why as well hurt ourselves in a way that, like actually advanced us.
Rebel:Oh, my. Wow, then
Shove:she went harder. Ah, you gotta manipulate the emos in the language they know. Yeah, um, I don't know, like, but yeah, my birthday is coming up. I'm gonna be 36 years old. I since I've last talked to y'all, I found out that like, along with a really old skate injury I have in my right knee, I also have really bad arthritis has gotten worse and worse. So it's like bone on bone. It's just like, well, it was really, really bad. And then I got a shot. And it helped. But then I kept overworking it. So it was like, still, sometimes I would feel the pain. And now I feel like the shot is starting to wear off. But that's why I'm trying to like weight train and build muscle around it. So it won't happen as much. Just getting older, I'm gonna start talking more about stuff like that, because there's just little things that like, your body changes, and it gets harder, especially like being a skater, and just existing in the world. And like the pressures of being a feminine body and getting older and all those things. For now I'm good because you know, black, don't crack. haven't worried about that yet. But give me four years when I'm 14, I might be like, Oh, I'm dealing with some stuff. But anyways, I'm like, super excited for my birthday. I like to celebrate multiple times.
Rebel:So what are we doing for your birthday?
Shove:Well, first of all, today, I was talking to my boss, I had to give him a ride to go pick up the work van. And he asked me, What are we doing? What are you doing for your birthday? And I told him all the things that I'm about to tell you. And he said, Wow, just really going hard. And I said, Yeah, I kind of like to go hard. Because when you're someone that's tried to analyze themselves, you really take more meaning and to every year especially like the happier you get every year that you're like, hey, like it's a real celebration of life to like, I'm still here. So you really want to like treasure that in a way. So yeah, I'm going all out. So I have two of our closest friends rebels best friends who didn't get mad at me for me not saying that.
Rebel:Because they're my best friends. Yeah, I'm
Shove:not allowed to say that. So Heather, okay, Project pinup. So a lot of y'all know her. She was one of our first sponsor. It was yeah, it was very cute. And we have Jessica catastrophe.
Rebel:Who's never sponsored us. No.
Shove:I won't mention her business just
Rebel:getting hers or businesses full Sun Studio. Yeah.
Shove:And you've if you read Dog Days at all the roller skate magazine, you've seen her artwork for
Rebel:sure. She's a very good illustrator. Yes. Graphic Designer, illustrator. Yeah, she's
Shove:done all the branding for the queer is yeah, like,
Rebel:like all the branding. Yeah. Skates injuries of
Shove:the course. Anywho. We talked to them, like every day on the app, Marco Polo, which is insane. Like we talked to them all the time. And they're flying out from Chicago and from Phoenix, and they're gonna be with us for four days. And we're super excited. And this tiny little living room and my best the best, the best friend of Mr. Healy will be staying to the nights here too. And day one, we're gonna go on a scavenger bar crawl Gavin and
Rebel:have our call last year I won. So everyone wants to know the last time we did it. I'm really good at scavenger hunts, and then add some alcohol on me and I'm Extra Extra.
Shove:I'm not gonna participate in it. I just like to be entertained. It's really fun. It's
Rebel:really fun. Anyways, I collected like Kuwait, literally. Oh, yeah. When like 10 panties and bra. Yeah,
Shove:because it's like 100 points. If you didn't give a stranger's underwear. It's like 200 If you get their bra, because bras are more expensive. And like, what's the chance of someone giving them either like, nice bra. They got like three? Yeah, she was like they're hanging from a purse.
Rebel:It's actually really gross if you think of.
Shove:And so we're going to be doing that and then we'll come home and we're super rowdy and then we'll be hungover the next morning and then Heather's like, I want to make records for you.
Rebel:So yes, there's like our best friend and also our mom.
Shove:Yeah, she's the mom. We all wish we had And then we wouldn't be so damaged. She would have helped us not have so much trauma. Yeah. And then we're gonna just have like a children and we're gonna do some shopping and take them all to Long Beach spots. And then we're gonna have like a summer party and I said, I only want to watch John Hughes movies. And rebel was like, What's John Hughes? Because I don't know directors names and I was like, John Hughes, like I know a lot of our listeners are young. So John Hughes is amazing. Amazing. Now that I know who he is, think Brett, if you never watched like 80s movies, please do so because they're epic. Do a whole marathon. Not Pretty in Pink 16 candles, breakfast clubs, even seeing animals. Elma Elmos fire even though that's why, like my least favorite. It's still pretty good. Alan came on later, I think but like Breakfast Club is like one of my all time for us.
Rebel:It's a good movie. I just love Molly Ringwald also. Yeah,
Shove:I had I had a friend Priscilla that used to one day she was like, You look like Molly Ringwald. And I know that's weird. Because like guy you're black. But like you're something like your face Your lips. Like you get like y'all look alike. And I was like, You're freaking weird. And then one time I saw a picture of her and I was like, oh, at the time, but this was way thinner. I don't know. She's plus size. Now. When I like see her with a tan. Maybe I'll see it more. Yeah, and then Sunday, we're doing drag brunch because the gays Yeah,
Rebel:but before that we're gonna do like crafts and like, hang out and go shopping and show Heather and Jess around Long Beach. So I'm excited about that. Yeah, potentially go skating. If it doesn't rain.
Shove:Yeah. And then drag brunch on Sunday, because that's what the gays do to celebrate. I've never actually gone to a drag wrench for my birthday. Oh, really? Yeah. It's my first time.
Rebel:Oh, that's so I have. So I feel every year. I'm like, You know what I want to do? I know your address since we've
Shove:been together. It's been to drag brunches for your birthday. When I've gone to other people's birthdays, drag brunch. Yeah, we've lost so many drag brunches. Yeah, that's just a part of our culture. So I'm like super excited to be like, I get to be like, Oh my god, I get to walk up there with the drag queen and your outfit is out. There. The drag queens are gonna drag me and I'm so ready. And you're so ready. They Yes. It'll be perfect. Yeah, I'm in a dress insane. Because that's why now. Yeah, I'm already extra. And so everything will be super extra. And then Monday will be the last day we might go to the movies. Because that new movie, Megan's coming out and she
Rebel:loves a scary movie has a doll phobia. Like nobody really is hearing. And I watched that movie. And I'm like, and she's like,
Shove:Yeah, so I'm ready. I'm ready to get shook. Want to be shook it shook it. I want to die on my 36th birthday. No.
Rebel:So yeah, I'm really excited about our outfits for the whole weekend. And even though I don't really have anything picked out, except for my drag brunch,
Shove:I only have my dog. But
Rebel:we went to the plus bus the other day, and we got a bunch of really cute stuff. I got my first IV Park. Okay, and it's latex and it's blue.
Shove:You probably like plus plus what's that? So plus, plus, don't worry if you're not in Southern California, like in the LA area, you can still shopping I still shop online and they do a lot of live sales on Instagram. So they do a really
Rebel:good job of like, showing you what it looks like rail,
Shove:they hire models, and then they haven't tried on they're really like honest about the fit and what they think it could fit or fits too small. And it's female owned. And it's kind of like consignment store thrift store like there's there is forever 21 stuff in there. But like mostly it's high end, but then it also has like a fashion brand company and it had a hand up quote Pinup Girl Clothing. That's what this romper is it had selkie all these amazing things and it was just like Ivy Park like rebel just said. And it was just like super cool to see because like you walk in and everything's a size 12 and up like up to like a 7x a twice. 32 like super awesome and so it was just like wow, like to have a problem of like things being too big and not like everything being too small was so nice. Like usually you're stuck with limited options. So even though it was kind of a drive it was still only 40 minutes which isn't that bad and it was like a really cool experience the people that work there a great and what's super awesome is we're gonna co host a
Rebel:Skate Night a fat vape Skate Night Yeah, they
Shove:throw events usually like they'll be like that baby blank so they had like a thought they'd prom. They had a beach day. Yeah, the beach parties already have a bunch of the beach parties. I definitely want to go like now that I'm like, gosh, I'm more comfortable around them now because the first time was like, okay.
Rebel:No awkward the first time. Yeah, like, we don't know you.
Shove:Yeah, but we've been around them so many times that like, yeah, so I feel like now I I'm like, Oh, I look forward like next summer I do want to take the drive out and like, go to the beach parties and do those things because they're really fun. And so I really just, I really just, like, respect to the work they're doing. Like they're like, the sense of community and like giving people like that bodies, opportunities. Not only like for stylish jobs and like modeling but also like a sense of community with having these like gatherings. So the fat baby skate party or escape that behave escape party will be moonlight, and it's on the NG it's on January 28. To date I made up no 2028 Okay, so yeah, so we're super excited about that.
Rebel:Yeah, I'm really really excited. Yeah, and the people who work there just so awesome. And I don't know, the mission is awesome. It's really good. Anyway, so yeah, so we have our outfits for that. So we're very excited. It's gonna be really awesome. fun packed weekend. Yeah.
Shove:For rollerskating some amazing things. One like me and rebel were three inch wide trucks now. Oh, yeah. Like whoa, why are we so anti like il
Rebel:x what? Hi. And now we're like, yeah, I have a wide truck and a narrow truck Park setup now because I like going back and forth between the two
Shove:homes. Anyone out there heard of the LA Roller Girls? Because maybe someone is now affiliated with them?
Rebel:Is it I am an LA roller girl slash la roller gay. Exactly. I'm so excited. It's literally been my dreams since I discovered that they existed. Yeah,
Shove:la Rollergirls have been around forever. And they've been around since pre COVID. And before like the roller skating like take off. They were
Rebel:the ones who did like all the roller skating
Shove:gigs before. Anytime you saw a roller skater on TV and a music video at a concert. chances were it was la Roller Girls. They did a lot a lot. A lot of still do a lot. Yeah. Like they were out like Who was it? What singer was it? They ran a Janet Jackson concert. Yeah, that's right. And then like one of them skates for Usher. Yeah, it's like wild. It's insane. So I open up opportunities for rebels. Super awesome. I got an opportunity through rebel through LA roller. So super awesome.
Rebel:Yeah, so that's been very exciting.
Shove:Yeah. What other skate milestones? Oh, we traveled so much. Last year, when
Rebel:we went to Bali. We went to Bali. It was so wild with a group of roller skaters. It was so fun. We really skated in Bali. And we did all sorts of adventuring. And we went in a waterfalls and we hung out with monkeys. And we did a lot of delicious, so much delicious food and drink delicious coffee. And we're actually going to Costa Rica next year. So if you want to come with us to Costa Rica, you should sign up. I'll put the link down below.
Shove:Yeah. And that's links also in our bios on our social media. Yeah, we went to skate love Barcelona. Oh,
Rebel:yeah. Just skate love Barcelona. And then we traveled to multiple countries afterwards.
Shove:So now I can say skated in Bali. I've been to Bali. We went to Spain. We did Amsterdam, Amsterdam, then we did. Dublin Ireland. Yeah. And we met up with skaters in Dublin is super awesome. It was so awesome. We had such a good time to the largest skate park in the Netherlands. I was huge show bag was amazing. And I went three months without roller stadium and didn't didn't, didn't put my skates on for the first time. Until we got to the Airbnb in Barcelona. Oh my god, and I am literally I was terrified because I like my knee was damaged. Or Bali. Like it seems like off the plane. It was like my knee was just jacked. And I had to literally like skate in the little dining area to like, get my balance back. And I was like, okay, I'm good. And then I just gave my fucking ass off. And I was like, yeah. Which is why rebel had to push me in a wheelchair in Ireland
Rebel:in the airport. No, at the at the time to get to add Schipol Yeah, I couldn't she couldn't do it,
Shove:couldn't walk and then she like got a wheelchair and I was so embarrassed. And I was like, what I shouldn't be up. She was like, You shouldn't be embarrassed, like, you need this. But my pride was like getting to me. And then I was like, you know, this is great. She's just pushing me around. I had my little suitcase next to me on its wheels.
Rebel:Yeah. Some terrible airport food.
Shove:Yeah, but yeah, man. Arthritis sucks.
Rebel:Yeah. Yeah, so we did that I traveled to Chicago for 24 hours to surprise I just sick catastrophe for her birthday. And that was the wildest 24 hours because get this. It was we went to the Lizzo concert. Then we did the AMA's. Then I did this other gig. And then the next day I went to Chicago and turned around and came back and the next day was Thanksgiving. We hosted a Thanksgiving
Shove:brunch, Yasmin, and then we just booked or we just booked our hotels rooms for rolling calm, so
Rebel:on. Oh, and we went to Moxie skate camp. Oh, yeah. Lobby went to Moxie skate camp, east and west.
Shove:Yeah. Last year, we was my first time coaching and going into camp. It was so fun, but so tiring, because it was camp West, quad or spring cup. And then camp ease and by camp ease. I was just so tired and people down like, physically, so exhaustively in my voice, and it was like just raining the whole time at camp. And like, I'm just like, at least I'm more prepared for it this year, because the same thing is happening where it's like camp, quad bleeding cup, and then camp again. Yeah. But at least now I know what it like really self care that week, and I shouldn't be in school. So by then, so like, oh, that should be added rest. So we'll see.
Rebel:Yeah, it was really exciting. I got to go and do like social media. And so that was fun. So I'm hoping that I get to go and be a coach next year.
Shove:Yeah, I'm pretty sure you all did you get this service. Today. Yeah, some people voted for not voted, but like recommended people they would love to see coach. So we're like trying to like put our feelers out and see like, who who's interested. Because one thing I would say as being the only beginner coach, it was like teaching beginner like skating and like not even like the only like, Girl park when I was teaching. Well, I did too. I did beginner toe stop tricks, and how to go down around for beginners. But like my classes were full, like so full of people. And it was like, for me, I it was easy, but I didn't feel like people were getting the full experience they could have because they needed more attention and more attention. And like, I was giving everyone individual attention, but they only got to do like two or three runs. Yeah. Because like the line would be so long. So that's why I'm glad like if you do end up coaching because I
Rebel:was like, I'll do beginners. I was like I could do beginners I could do Park I could do dance, whatever. Yeah,
Shove:that's like one thing I noticed was a big ticket takeaway. Just talking to people was like, Oh, I wish there was like, even more beginner classes. And I was like, Yeah, we should make this happened. So I'm excited cuz I feel like camp just gets better and better every year from what I've been hearing. And yeah, we got a good team. So it should be fun.
Rebel:That's yeah, that was that was a really, that was so fun. I had such a good time. And then what else happened the last year? I don't know. I don't even know. Last year was last year was so wild. But anyways, here's to yeah, here's some moving upward and onward. Bully is still extra loud. If you hear snoring, you can't see him. So if you are watching, you can see him. If you're listening. We also have a skate date podcast YouTube that this visual goes up on so you'll be able to see it there. And yeah. So what else do we need to update the people on? Or what do we talk about?
Shove:Um, I think that's it for now. It was mostly just so like, we're just gonna
Rebel:wait, I have something to tell the people. Of course, no, it was a big thing that happened. I finally boundary set with my family. It was actually not like a fun thing that happened. But basically what happened was when shove and I got engaged, like we had known that my parents were not supportive of gay marriage, and it had not been an issue before because they had always treated us normally. Right. Like, it didn't feel weird or different or anything. And like when my mom had told me that, like if we didn't get if we were to get married, that we wouldn't necessarily be like, like that they wouldn't come to the wedding. And that had been really sad for me, but it wasn't until we did get engaged. And then I went to my parents house, it was like going to tell them and they literally like couldn't even say congratulations. Like they literally changed the subject. Like no one listened to me when I was telling them about this very important thing. And like I had gotten there right after shove had proposed and I was wanting to tell them about how I was going to propose back and like a All this stuff and I was so excited. And I was making all these plans and like for them not to listen to me at all, I was like, actually shocked by the amount of intolerance that I experienced. And so as time went on, like, I just realized how hurt I was. And I also realized how much I was like, You know what, like, it totally sucks, actually, that you actually don't accept me for all of who I am, like, you keep saying you love me. But you only love parts of me, you only want me to show up in the way that you expect me to show up, which is the way that you experienced me. And I just felt like it wasn't fair to me to be hiding part of myself. And so as the year went on, I just didn't show up to things because I was having a hard time. Like, why would I show up to someone's birthday? If they wouldn't show up to the most important day of my life? You know, I mean, like, why would I make the effort to come out for Mother's Day or Father's Day when you don't want to come and celebrate my literal wedding? You know, like, I don't know, I just like had a hard time with it. And I just couldn't put it aside. So long story short, my mom was like, Are you coming to Thanksgiving? And I was like, actually, like, I'm really hurt. Mike, let me tell you all the things that have hurt me and why I feel this way. And then my mom did not respond well to that. So because she didn't respond well to that. I set that boundary and was like, well, then I'm not like, I will not be talked to you that way. And you won't disrespect my fiance that way. And then have me like, show up at Thanksgiving, like everything's fine and dandy. And then there was still no conversation had between then and Christmas. And they were like, are you coming to Christmas? And I was like, are we going to have a conversation and there was no response. So we didn't go to my parents house for Thanksgiving or for Christmas. Actually, we didn't go to any family, any blood families anything. No. And we just did our own thing for the whole year. And it felt it felt I have mixed feelings about it. I definitely felt happy that I did not feel any negativity like that, that we didn't. Like, our relationship is very healthy, and like the people we surround ourselves with are very supportive of us and everything. And the family we've created for ourselves is so beautiful and wonderful. But it's also just like the rejection of all of it. I think I've experienced a lot of rejection this last year, it's been hard for me to handle and so like, you know, we made it almost all the way through Christmas without me crying. Almost. And then I lost it at like 9pm
Shove:because your mom was petty in st you sound like nine something pm and like, oh, yeah, talk to me. A lot.
Rebel:Yeah, so yeah, so that was wild. So I set boundaries, and I stuck to them. And I am proud of that. But that's like a big thing that's happened in my life. So I that's one of my 2020 mi things is I'm really trying to like listen to my heart and soul about what is healthy for me. And like, understand that, like people try and project guilt as a defense mechanism and also as a method of attacking other people. And so to recognize guilt for what it is, which is just an emotion that comes and goes you know, and sometimes it has meaning. And sometimes it doesn't. And so I've been really trying. I've been working with my therapist really hard, everybody. Good job. Yeah,
Shove:I needed it. Friday. Boom. Thanks.
Rebel:And then today I dressed up like a sriracha bottle.
Shove:Yeah, she was wearing all red sweat suit in a bright green beanie that was lifted up. So she did well because the raja bottle oh my gosh, Anyways, y'all, it feels good to be back. And we all go back to having some sort of structure. I won't always just be like this. But you know, we're just easing and you know, it's a first date. We're trying to get to know each other again.
Rebel:Yeah, I mean, I feel like not that we're different people. We're definitely not different people. But we have evolved I think a lot as humans. And together we've grown we've had a lot of experiences and I know that you've grown to and you've evolved and so I'm excited to see where this kind of journey together takes us
Shove:if rebel actually remembers us little people because she just had a tick tock go viral with over I see a million views on how to skate. And well, I think just to cool for us no,
Rebel:I'm not I'm definitely not. And I was very shocked by that. And there are so many I'm just not even I can't even go in the comments. There's so many I just can't even do it. So we're gonna just Yeah.
Shove:Oh my god. Also, by the time you watch this, I mean, or listen to this. I hope if you have not, I need you to run not walk to YouTube land to query string. Oh,
Rebel:my goodness, yes. You run a run to choreograph straight skates
Shove:and watch the Lizzo tribute video for my birthday. And it was a lot of work. And rebel is an editing genius. so talented. And it's super cheesy and fun and I don't know it was just really nice to do something like
Rebel:creative creative and and flex my creative editing muscle like that in a while. Yeah, and
Shove:I haven't like pushed myself out of my boundaries in a while and it was definitely part of the whole 2020 me that made me like want to do it is like go ahead and be like super vain and release a fucking video. That's like all you like putting yourself out there for your birthday. Like yeah, let's already extra Let's go next level extra. Let's do it. It's gonna be fun. I don't know like, I hope you see it. I hope it makes you laugh. I hope you enjoy it. Yeah, it's a it's a party. It's a party.
Rebel:Yeah, I'm very proud of us and our creative team. Literally just me and rebel did it all literally, I was the you were like the creative director. I was like, the director, editor, camera woman.
Shove:And when I tell you that the budget for this movie was$0.02 I think I spent a total of$200 for everything like things I didn't have. Okay, maybe 200 I don't even know if it was $200 I don't think we're talking about like we died blankets for an hour. Yeah, but I had a by the Diana by the blanket. I had to buy the bathing suit. I designed a freaking baby. Oh
Rebel:my god. You did design a bathing suit to look like
Shove:Liz's baby. I had to buy a red cowboy hat. You Yes. I had to pay for the $30 to get into Joshua Tree. Oh, yeah. Oh, yeah. I
Rebel:forgot that we I gotta bail filmed out. Yeah, the wedding. Yeah, but
Shove:gloves already had the dress. You bought the cake? Yeah, it was a piece of cake. It was 50% off. It was expiring that day had a candle. So there were like things that like definitely like if that's it. So yeah, let's say like almost $200 so that it's beyond a low budget. That's why it will be a no budget film. Yeah. But you know, it's fun. It kind of
Rebel:us who are paid actors, and we aren't going to be paid for it because it can't be monetized. Doesn't get taken down. No,
Shove:I only hope not. Yeah. And I really hope that she sees it. I hope so too. Even if she does. I just felt like I'm gonna convince myself that she's seen it. I think she will just didn't talk about like the internet. She does like the internet. She likes the social means. Yeah, so we'll see.
Rebel:I think your best chance of her seeing it is putting parts of it on Tik Tok
Shove:that, like at this point, I now am like, you know, the six degrees of separation. I am like, two degrees of separation of Lizzo through multiple people. It's gonna happen. It's gonna happen one day, it's gonna happen it's gonna happen. I don't care if it's just passing by. Hey, girl, hey, girl, and then I cry in the bathroom. It's gonna happen. To many people have been women fasting this morning in my fasting Womb of fasting. Like from the womb from the womb. Just a little a little a little beam of an idea and a dream and hopes and then that grows and grows and grows and then I give birth to it into reality. Yes. That was a beautiful visual.
Rebel:Hope you did not picture that. Wow, sorry, I
Shove:should have came with a trigger warning.
Rebel:Anyways, anyway.
Shove:Anyways, I'm your two favorite podcasters just getting where we're bad. It feels good to be back.
Rebel:We miss you.
Shove:We didn't miss you. This was really fun. I'd be like the new setup. I hope
Rebel:you like how casual we are. keeping it casual
Shove:dress like this super casual. Didn't just put makeup on.
Rebel:It put makeup on just for this podcast.
Shove:I did pull this wig out of a pile and had to vigorously brush it. So it was a lot of work.
Rebel:Let's say you did it. You did it. I did it. She's literally wearing falsies for you. We're here. We're queer.
Shove:Get used to it. Just kidding already. Anyways, it's been raining all week. So we haven't really skated. But we hope probably where you are as the same deal, but I hope so bummed
Rebel:because I was like, Oh, no year like, I'm gonna skate more often. And then it's been so rainy. Yeah, like,
Shove:so. Our skate date is more like a skate maintenance. Date.
Rebel:Escape maintenance day. Those are real though.
Shove:They are you know, yeah, that's a
Rebel:skate. Skate adjacent. Just
Shove:like this podcast. Oh. We've been together too long.
Rebel:Together. How long have we been together? We've
Shove:almost five years.
Rebel:On 222 22 No. 222 23 on 330 23. Technically, 318 23. We weren't together even 3023
Shove:people are like, stop with the numbers rebel.
Rebel:Sorry. Stop it. Stop that right now.
Shove:All right, y'all were just like dragging this along and just want to hang out long. Anyway, just remember, you won't hear from us next week. You'll hear from us the week after that. Because just like shove the podcast is bi weekly that is
Rebel:and share the podcast with your friends because it probably won't pop up in people's algorithms because we've been gone for so long. Yes.
Shove:Hey, even if we're just talking to each other in this empty void, and no one's listening. Well, it's good to be here with you, man.
Rebel:Thank you. Feels good to be here with you. All right. We're did we have an outro? I don't even remember our outro
Shove:is, but bye.
Rebel:Bye, everybody. Don't forget to subscribe to our youtube please.
Shove:Yeah, yeah. Let's go Okay, bye.
